When Joe Chandler dies, his younger brother, Lee has to return home to take care of his nephew. This is a story about pain and loss, but it's also realistic and fun - because, just like in real life, unusual moments happen even in the darkest situations. After the tragedy that led him to leave everything behind, Lee Chandler is a doorman in Boston, he earns the minimum wage, and his inexpressiveness equals the emptiness of the basement where he lives. He lives because he wants a kind of punishment that he imposed after what happened in the past.

What happened is gradually being revealed through flashbacks, and it's more dramatic than anything we can imagine until the middle of the movie. At the same time, it is so real and close that it is impossible not to put ourselves in the shoes of this character - and this is even more frightening. Lee seems asleep day-to-day life without purpose, which contrasts with the images of the past with his wife, Randi, and their three children. When he is forced to return, after his brother designates him in the will as his son's guardian, there are visible inner conflicts that he is about to hide. Still, the pain is there, and it's so distressing it sucks the viewers into this incredibly well-written and accomplished story. The dialogues are not poetic, sometimes even seem improvised.

The drama felt very real. This is the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
