A quick review of Heavy Rain!

Heavy Rain - is an action-adventure game developed by Quantic Dream and published by Sony Computer Entertainment as a PlayStation 3 exclusive in February 2010.

Heavy Rain shows a totally adult plot and has apparent influences from films like Se7en, The Fugitive and SAW. The main plot focuses on four characters: Ethan Mars, Madison Paige, Scott Shelby, and Norman Jayden.

Ethan Mars was a successful architect who had a happy life alongside his wife Grace and their two children: Shaun and Jason Mars. In the beginning, in the care of Ethan, Jason is in a car accident and loses his life. Blaming himself for the loss of his eldest son, Ethan gets into trouble with his wife and his other son. While strolling in a park with his son Shaun, in an attempt to regain his confidence, Ethan ends up passing carelessly and fainting. Upon waking up, Shaun is missing. In later events, Ethan discovers that his son has been kidnapped by the "Origami Killer," a serial killer of unknown identity who drowns his victims through rainwater.

A violent maniac who kidnaps children and leaves them in wells for days intending to kill them. For some odd reason, they were dying by drowned with rainwater. That's right, the killer is cruel enough to choose the period of torrential rains to catch the children so that when it rained, the well would fill and the child would die. Ingenious, isn`t it? The serial killer has strange habits, like leaving an origami and an orchid near the body of its victims, so that everyone can know that he was the author of such atrocity.

For this reason, he became known as Origami Killer. Meanwhile, Scott Shelby, a retired police officer, begins his job hired by the families of the victims of the Origami Killer. To reveal the identity of the criminal, Scott follows clues of the murderer's most recent victims.

Norman Jaiden, an FBI agent, is sent to help local police investigate the murdered children. Using his ARI (Added Reality Interface), a sophisticated criminal investigation tool. Norman begins his search for the crime scene of the last child victim of the Origami Killer. Elsewhere in the city, photojournalist Madison Paige, who suffers from chronic insomnia, leaves her apartment to sleep in motels, unique places she can sleep. In one of these motels, Madison ends up finding Ethan. To help the boy, but hiding his profession, she gets an opportunity to create a story involving the kidnapping of Shaun Mars by the Origami Killer. All four characters center on the drama of the crime of Shaun Mars. Each one follows their line of reasoning, according to the involvement in the story.

The screenplay is Oscar-worthy, not by depth or originality, but because the way everything is explained and tied. The immersion provided is something surreal.
