Bohemian Rhapsody - Film - What is your idea of true love?
Bohemian Rhapsody - is a 2018 biographical drama film about Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of the British rock band Queen. "Wikipedia"Hello, my friends! Thanks for coming! Today I am going to make a quick review of the film called Bohemian Rhapsody!!
The movie Bohemian Rhapsody tells the biographical story of the English rock band Queen from the union of the band members until the death of the protagonist, Freddie Mercury.
In 1970s England, with young rebels looking for a way to express themselves. The band was initially composed of four members: Brian May (played by Gwilym Lee), Roger Taylor (played by Ben Hardy), John Deacon (played by Joseph Mazzello). And a singer, who eventually, gave up on the band. Freddie (played by Rami Malek), who was a fan, followed the band's path through the night and had the dream of being a professional vocalist. Knowing the leader's withdrawal, Mercury decided to offer to replace the former singer.
After some resistance from the band members, he replaced the former singer. In a risky and challenging decision, the four decide to sell the group's van to finance the production of a record. The band then called Queen begins to be hugely successful and Tour around the country. The group catches the attention of a record label that can quickly turn them into a big hit. At the height of its success, Freddie creates a song called Bohemian Rhapsody, six minutes long. Believing firmly that his exotic creation would be most successful, the singer proposes that Bohemian Rhapsody be the single from the band's next album (A Night at the Opera). Ray Foster completely disagrees with the decision because he finds the song strange and extremely long. In the face of the pause, the Queen breaks with the label and Freddie takes the song to be played on the radio by his friend, DJ Kenny Everett. It turns out to be a great success.

Excessive success, money, sudden fame, and some troubled companies lead Freddie down a dangerous path. He begins to drink too much, to delay or miss appointments, and to destroy himself. With wildlife, consumed by drugs and the proliferation of partners, Mercury enters a harmful snowball effect. Convinced by a millionaire contract offered by his agent, Mercury leaves the group to pursue a solo career. Queen ends with the members deeply hurt by the former singer.
After a period of loneliness and runaway, also warned by Mary, Freddie realizes the nonsense he made into a chaotic life without friends. The singer then goes back and asks for forgiveness. The Queen performs again and performs a historic concert at the charity Live Aid event. Also, during this time, Mercury falls in love with a waiter. Freddie Mercury learns that he has contracted AIDS and that his life will end soon.
As usual, I would like to show my piano cover of the Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody:
Bohemian Rhapsody is not just the title of Bryan Singer's biography of singer Freddie Mercury. It is also the name of one of the most classic songs of the band Queen. Originally featured on the 1975 album A Night at the Opera, whose pre-production is portrayed in the movie, "Bohemian Rhapsody" is one of the group's biggest hits. Five minutes and 50 seconds long, it is a very innovative song with no chorus and a mix of rock, hard rock, and Opera.
We can consider Bohemian Rhapsody as a free-inspiring biography of Freddie Mercury's story. Anthony McCarten's script takes individual liberties, especially as regards the nature of the relationship between Freddie and his family. The film implies that parents did not accept their son's sexual choice or career. Let alone the fact that Freddie had largely denied his origins as a descendant of Parsis Zoroastrians. However, the reality is that Freddie has always been very close to his family. And his parents have closely followed his personal and professional career.
Bohemian Rhapsody's primary focus is actually Farrokh Bulsara's transformation into Freddie Mercury. And how much his intense, creative public persona, who always sought to do something new and unimaginable. It was consuming him to the point that he had lost touch with all that he indeed was. Bohemian Rhapsody shows that Freddie Mercury was an extraordinary singer and performer. But, he was much better when accompanied by Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon, his Queen companions. That's why Bohemian Rhapsody finds its best moments when Queen's vibrancy and boldness are on screen. Despite the confusing timeline and stormy production (director Bryan Singer was fired weeks before the end of production, after disagreements with the crew, especially it's a lead actor). The film ends very bravely, with the whole sequence Queen's 20-minute Live Aid concert in 1985. In that final act, everything that makes Bohemian Rhapsody a good movie is enhanced, in particular: the reenactment of the era, the perfect characterization of the Queen members, and the excellent performance. By Rami Malek, who viscerally incorporates his character.

Before talking about the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, you need to do a little flashback. Originally, Freddie Mercury was to be played by Sacha Baron Cohen, as his resemblance to the singer and the natural scenic follies made him an ideal candidate for the role. Despite Rami Malek's high performance. Let's admit that we were saddened that we didn't see what the former Borat would look like in Freddie Mercury. Following the artistic conflicts between Sasha and the producers, Freddie's interpreter changed several times before Malek was hired.
Another big twist: Bryan Singer's resignation a few weeks before the end of filming because of his repeated absences and disagreements with the lead actor. Bryan was replaced by Dexter Fletcher but is still credited as sole director.
Speaking of the movie, the plot of the film is like a description of Wikipedia: we see Freddie, his encounter with Brian May and Roger Taylor, until the famous Live Aid concert in 1985. The rest follows the singer's historical trajectory. In the final credits, we see the artist as a man with some hurts, and a compulsive need to be admired and loved. Bohemian Rhapsody's challenge is to provoke the viewer's attention among Freddie's quick portraits. We see his deviations from alcohol, drugs, his homosexuality, and his illness superficially but, albeit fast, everything is presented.
Bad? Yes and no. There is obviously a sense of shallow depth when it comes to the singer or about Queen in general. There is a fear on the part of the studio to portray in more detail the essence of Freddie. As if the film was more concerned with impressing than drawing a complete portrait, including the dark side, of the star.
Bryan Singer Offers us an art edition organized in small layers and put the right music at the right time with perfect contextualization.
The movie does indeed recreate the feeling of being in a live show, and even try to get rid of some stomping and shoving during the performances of We Will Rock You. As for Live Aid, the historic London show in 1985, was reproduced almost entirely in this feature, to give us a glimpse of what we have lost. Required? No, at least in terms of duration. Electrifying? Totally, and we want more.
Anyway, we need to talk about the lovely Rami Malek. An assumed production mistake, but a little forgiven: we had the feeling that sometimes his interpretations got repetitive. And it was hard to see him embodying the eccentricity of a Freddie Mercury. As a result, his prestige s overshadowed, as well as his ability to transform, transcend on the scene. But if we question its performance in the early minutes, as the movie progresses, it becomes almost impossible to differentiate between the actor and the singer. A fascinating interpretation for some award nominations.
Making the band members, especially Mercury, have that aura of immortals. In my imagination, the group is a set of immortal beings, and the three members that are still alive have not yet had their heads cut off. But anyway, silly things aside. The movie is epic !! Wonderful! It's the movie you should show anyone who doesn't know the band yet. The film focuses on Freddie's artistic and personal life, although Brian May, John Deacon and Roger Taylor also play a vital role in the story. It's a movie about the Queen, but with a little more emphasis on Freddie, the legend, the myth. Of course, showing Freddie in his personal life here, he will no longer look like that. Freddie was not a good example of a person, he had his scrotum moments, and he had his happy moments that are worth knowing.
Bryan knew how to separate the man from the legend, the regular demigod guy who is always the first thing that comes to mind when we imagine him. In that iconic pose, holding the microphone as he raises a hand up in signal. Victory
We see his first girlfriend, Mary, and we also see the other two cases he had with two guys. One of them being John Hutton, who was even the guy who was with Freddie on his last days here on Earth. We see the Queen, the fights, and hard times that the band went through, the moments of success. We understand the musical experimentation that gives a name to the film.
I really enjoyed the performances, all the great actors. Maybe the only member I thought didn't look much alike was Roger Taylor. The actor doesn't really refer to the original Taylor's features for me; the others were perfect, especially Brian May who looked the same!
Another exciting thing to see was the young Farrokh Bulsara's relationship with his parents. Long before he became Freddie Mercury, legally changing his name. Freddie's bisexuality was also adequately exploited, not becoming an unnecessary drama and not even political or ideological propaganda of any group. They did what was strictly necessary not to deviate from the main course, which was Freddie's persona, his career, his trajectory towards the fame it gained.
When Freddie finds out, he caught AIDS has also been very well represented. Showing a mature guy fully aware of his mistakes in the past. But even with his difficulty, and even knowing that he didn't have much time left. He never gave up and lived his last days in the limelight as a true champion and a real inspiration to inspire us all. Especially after reconciling with his friends, culminating in Queen's historic performance at Wembley Stadium in 1985 at the Live Aid festival, after the Dire Straits show, a performance remembered by everyone today as one of the 10 most memorable moments in rock history.
The only thing I thought was missing was that they showed Freddie's famous partnership with soprano Montserrat Caballe, which resulted in beautiful compositions. But, I think there was a lot to show in the 135 minutes of the movie.
As the credits rolled, I was not happy, even though I was ecstatic after the close with Wembley Stadium, and kept singing out "Don't Stop Me Now" and "The Show Must Go On."

Mercury's last days have not been dealt with here, and I fully understand why. There is a text on the internet talking about it, and if you read it, look, you will feel your heart being torn into a thousand pieces. It's too sad to show in a movie the importance of the band for popular culture. Freddie was merely a human being like you and me, who when on stage came out of himself, and it became bigger than life. Freddie ultimately saved Farrokh's life. It was the song that saved Freddie from an unfortunate fate. It was his talent that eventually made him achieve the respect and recognition that everyone has for him these days, long after his death.
I strongly recommend it!! He leaves the cinema with teary eyes, happy, fulfilled, still singing at the top of his lungs, content with everything! Beautiful hit in Bryan Singer's career!
Bohemian Rhapsody faces the challenge of being a biographical film that aims to recreate the prosperous years of one of the world's most famous rock bands: The Queen. The film is a journey through time, giving the viewer proof why this period was so important to music.
