Life of Pi - Yann Martel - Book Review!
Life of Pi - is a Canadian fantasy adventure novel by Yann Martel published in 2001. "Wikipedia"Hello, my beautiful friends! Thanks for coming again! How are you living? Today I am going to talk about an incredible book called Life of Pi!!
Life of Pi |
This book is about faith and at the end of taking a leap of faith. The beginning of the book is just fascinating to read. Pi weaves in stories of his childhood with facts about India, religion, animals, zoos, family, and all kinds of other stuff. Pi was trying to determine his faith and the choice that follows.
The story transforms instantly, and forever. And in those last few chapters, you realize that the moral has changed as well. This book is not about believing in God, but about what it takes to believe in something, anything really. With all the changes occurring in India, Pi and his family choose to move to Canada and make most of the animals from the zoo with them to sell to zoos mostly in America. On the way, the boat sinks and Pi is left alone in a lifeboat with a tiger, hyena, zebra, and orangutan. As Pi says in his story, “Life on a lifeboat isn’t much of a life. It is like an endgame in chess, a game with few pieces. The elements couldn’t be more simple, nor the stakes higher.”
It gets pretty violent and a little disgusting at times, but you're reading about wild animals and about a guy who is caught in a horrible tale of survival. While on the boat, Pi has to come to face his fate, death by water or end by a tiger, and also his faith. But even when things seemed the grimmest Pi never stopped fighting for his life.
Life Of Pi - Collector's Edition [Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + DVD] |
"Life is so beautiful that death has fallen in love with it, a jealous, possessive love that grabs at what it can."
"All living things contain a measure of madness that moves them in strange, sometimes inexplicable ways."
"The main battlefield for good is not the open ground of the public arena but the small clearing of each heart."
The books become very engaging. The ocean adventure part of the book is really a riveting read. As Pi settles into his life on the lifeboat, the book becomes trippy and metaphysical in parts.
"I will not die. I refuse it. I will make it through this nightmare. I will beat the odds, as great as they are. I have survived so far, miraculously. Now I will turn miracle into routine. The amazing will be seen every day. I will put in all the hard work necessary. Yes, so long as God is with me, I will not die. Amen."
Then, the end of the book is fantastic.
This book was very beautifully written and moving. You really connect with Pi. The tiger gave him a reason to live, The parting of Pi and Richard was pretty much heart wrenching even though it was probably for the best.
