Hello, my beautiful friends! Thanks for coming again! How are you living? So, Today I am going to talk about an AMAZING Korean Pop group called Blackpink!

Black Pink is the first girl group to debut under the same entertainment company seven years after 2NE1. They officially debuted on August 8, 2016, with the single album Square One. Fans of the KPop BLACKPINK group are called "Blink."

The promotions started in November 2011, with the unveiling of a teaser image of Kim Eun-bi. Who was speculated as a candidate for group formation, YG Entertainment revealed the group's final line-up and name on June 29, 2016.

The first title track, "Whistle," was a "minimal hip hop track," and was produced by Teddy Park and Future Bounce, and written by Teddy Park and Bekah BOOM. The second title track, “Boombayah,” was produced by Teddy Park and co-written with Bekuh BOOM.
Their music video was directed by Seo Hyun-Seung. Their debut singles reached # 1 on the Billboard World Digital Songs chart and the fastest to do so. And only the third Korean artist to occupy the top two positions after Psy & Big Bang.

YG Entertainment is one of the most famous companies in South Korea. The group started in 2011, but only on August 08, 2016 was it officially debut as Blackpink of the 4 members. A month before the group's big debut was revealed one member per week. Starting with Jennie, then Lisa, and following the group's outreach strategy, the last two members, Jisoo and Rosé, were revealed. The girls were already recognized even before the debut, both Jisoo and Rosé made appearances in some clips with other famous artists.

Each week a member would be revealed, starting with Jennie, who had previously featured in songs by other company artists.

The girls started their career with the album "Square One," containing only 2 songs "Boombayah" and "Whistle," and in just 1 month after debut, they achieved over 100 million views on their YouTube channel. At the MMA Awards (Mnet Asian Music Awards) in 2016, they won the award for best MV of the year with “Whistle.” On November 1st, 2016 they released their second album “Square two” with only 2 songs again, “Playing with fire” and “Stay,” and drew a lot of attention to the song “Stay,” because unlike all their other songs, this one It has a slower and calmer pace. In 2017 they debuted in Japan with the album "Blackpink," including all their songs in the Japanese version. And 1 new song "As If It's Your Last" (which also has the Japanese version).  On June 8, Lisa's image was posted, revealing the mysterious girl who surprised everyone with a dance practice posted on the group's YouTube channel.

Some curious things about these 4 girls are that Lisa (Lalisa Monahan). She is Thai and was the only one accepted at the YG audition that took place in Thailand in 2010. And with only 14 years old was being a trainee in South Korea in 2011, and now is the principal dancer of the group. Jennie (Kim Jennie) is Korean, but early in her childhood, she went to study in New Zealand. And it was there that she learned English (currently she is already fluent), but also knows very well Japanese. Roseanne Park is Australian and raised in New Zealand as well. And she won first in the YG auditions that took place in Australia, and when she went to train in Korea, Jennie explained everything to her in English. Jisoo (Kim Jisoo) is Korean, and in 2016 won 7th place in “The Most Beautiful Faces of Kpop 2016”. She is also well known for her modeling career, earning the group's visual post.
On July 29, 2016, YG Entertainment confirmed via a teaser image the group's debut for August 8, 2016. It was later revealed that on August 14, the first television broadcast on Inkigayo kicking off promotions for the first single.

On June 15, Jisoo was revealed, the oldest member of the group, already known to the public due to photographic rehearsals for various brands and video appearances, as well as brief participation in the drama The Producers.

Five days before the premiere, YG released the group's first promotional images. A picture of Rosé and two of the group in retro clothes and pastel colors, showing a chic and delicate perception of the members.

The image of Jennie and two of the group wearing plain clothes and walking on the street was revealed. On August 5, the image of Lisa and again, two of the group were shown. The same day, YG Entertainment released a promotional image for their debut track, "BOOMBAYAH." "BOOMBAYAH" was produced by Teddy, and written by Teddy and Bekah Boom. This single was released on August 8.

On June 22, Rosé was unveiled as the last member, formerly known for her participation in G-Dragon's song "Without You" in 2012, drawing attention for her powerful voice.

"BOOMBAYAH" is an EDM song with an exciting rhythm and a fast choreography. The music video was directed by Seo Hyun Seung, who also directed 2NE1's hits "I Am The Best" and Big Bang's "Fantastic Baby." On August 7 a teaser with photos of Jisoo and two of the group were unveiled. "Whistle," their second single, was produced by Teddy and Future Bounce, while the lyrics were written by Teddy and Bekah Boom. On August 8th, a promotional image was released under the name of the first single album, SQUARE ONE. A few hours later, "BOOMBAYAH" and "Whistle" were revealed on the V App after the group's press conference. YG Entertainment has announced that Black Pink will have no leader, as it aims to enable all four members to resolve group difficulties.

Their official debut took place on August 8, 2016, with the release of the singles "Boombayah" and "Whistle" from the single Square One.

Black Pink's debut was a success, thus earning several "Best New Artist of the Year" awards. Including Melon Music Awards, Golden Disc Awards and also the Seoul Music Awards. And Billboard has also named Black Pink the second-best new K-pop group of 2016.

On June 22, 2017, Black Pink released a digital single titled "As If It's Your Last." Just seventeen hours after its release, "As If It's Last" music video reached over eleven million views on YouTube. Making it the fastest video to exceed ten million views from a Korean group, breaking the previously acquired record. By BTS with their single "Not Today," with ten million plays in several hours.


Single "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" debuted at number 17 on the UK's Official Trending Chart, becoming the first female K-pop group to enter the chart since its debut in 2016. The single also debuted on Billboard Hot 100 as the most successful song of all time by a female K-pop group. Opening 55th with 12.4 million streams in the US and 7,000 downloads sold the following week, according to Nielsen Music. The only other female K-pop group to reach the Hot 100 is Wonder Girls with "Nobody" in 2009, a song that debuted and peaked at No. 76. BLACKPINK beat record K-pop MV previews on YouTube. "Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" video exceeded 638 million views, second place: BTS "DNA," which is in the 629 million view range. “DDU-DU DDU-DU” is the most viewed MV of a pop group.

BLACKPINK released the 'Kill This Love' MV which was released on April 4, 2019, was once the second most-viewed debut in Youtube history, with 56.7 million views in its first 24 hours. Just behind BTS with 78 million views in the early 24 hours on youtube.

With the initial results of the music video, BLACKPINK second hit the 100 million view mark faster in just three days. It's a week video clip hit the youtube mark of 200 million views more quickly.

Black Pink's performance at the American Coachella Festival on the 13th. The founder of the event revealed that months before he met the group in Korea and personally invited them to perform at the festival.
