My thoughts about Alfred Hitchcock - Psycho!

Psycho - is a 1960 American psychological horror film directed and produced by Alfred Hitchcock, and written by Joseph Stefano.
Hello, my friends! Thanks for coming! Today I am going to talk about the nostalgic movie! Psycho!
Psycho (1960) [Blu-ray] |
The story of Psycho seems relatively simple: Marion - a young woman in her twenties - had a difficult life. Sick and very early responsible for financially caring for the family, she wants to go on her way with her boyfriend Sam, whom she plans to marry. Sam, however, has a considerable debt inherited from his father and cannot afford a marriage at that time. He lives in the back of his building shop, and everything he earns is destined to pay off that debt. One day, Marion, who works at a real estate agency, is asked to deposit USD 40,000 into her boss's account. She needs to go to the bank personally to do this, but She has other plans. She decides that this money will be the foundation of her new life with Sam and disappears with the cash. Meanwhile, we are also introduced to Norman Bates - a forty-year-old, single and strange who runs the Bates Motel while looking after his crippled mother - Norma. Norma, a domineering and jealous woman, wants to control every aspect of her son's life.
Marion arrives at the Bates Motel after getting lost on the way to Sam's town and decides to stay the night while planning her next steps. So we have the classic scene of the murder of Marion! This is the fuse of the whole plot. This scene is a brutal murder! Marion's death is attributed to Norma, and from here, we follow two narratives. The search for Marion - which begins when her sister goes after Sam to tell him that she disappeared and Norman's attempt to cover up the murder allegedly committed by his mother. His inner debate about protecting it all the time borders insanity.
The story surprises us with some details about Norman and his mental breakdown after his mother's death. Making us realize that in search of comfort, he ends up giving life to his two personalities.
Psycho (The Complete Original Motion Picture Score) |
Suffering from a dissociative identity disorder. As a child, Bates suffered severe emotional abuse at the hands of his mother. Norma, who taught him that all aspects of sex were sinful and that other women were whores. Concerning the other characters that appear in the plot, each one has its role, its importance, and its motivations. But in the end, it turns out that everything revolves around Norman and his actions. It dazzles so much the other characters that although we want to know what will be the result of the search for Lily, Sam, and Detective Arbogast. We still want to know how Bates will react to the discoveries that sooner or later arrive. Also, as you could see, I was very stunned by the complexity of Norman Bates' mind. So much so that I would not hesitate to point it out this movie to terror lovers. To those who are curious to know what extent the human mind can go when employed for evil.
